Founded by Stefanie Gastaldi, Patina Interior Design is a Hawaii-based luxury interior design studio dedicated to creating refined, timeless spaces that embody a profound sense of place. Based on the island of Maui, the firm specializes in high-end residential interiors, bespoke home design, hospitality projects, and lighting design — blending artistry, craftsmanship, and architecture to reflect the natural beauty and cultural rhythm of the islands.
Patina’s work captures the essence of island living — balancing organic materials, thoughtful detailing, and contemporary sophistication. Every project is conceived as a living narrative, grounded in context and designed to endure. Guided by the belief that great design belongs to its landscape, Patina crafts interiors that feel authentic, connected, and deeply personal.

At Patina Interior Design, our work begins with a deep respect for place. Stefanie gastaldi | Owner
Owner and founder, Stefanie Gastaldi, is an Interior Designer based out of Maui, Hawaii. She and her team adore the local culture, spirit of Aloha and beauty that Maui brings. She incorporates her passion for art, world travel, and modern aesthetic to the rewarding field of Interior Design. Her knowledge of color and texture shows in her ability to create spaces full of the character her clients admire. Stefanie specializes in lighting design and custom homes while always providing personalized service to every project.
Originally a native to the east coast Stefanie began studies of Design in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2006. She relaunched her company as Patina Interior Design locally in Maui in 2016 after working for years independently on Oahu and the Pacific Northwest. Stefanie is a mother and understands the importance of nontoxic living and family-friendly design. She can suggest finishes and furniture products that will create a clean, healthy living space for any client. In her spare time she enjoys the beauty of Maui through surfing, hiking, and time spent with family.

Martin Gastaldi | executive project Liason
Martin, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, has called Maui, Hawaii home for more than twenty-five years. Drawn to the island by his passion for windsurfing and the ocean, he brings both technical precision and an island-informed sensibility to his work.
With a background in mechanical engineering and extensive experience in Hawaii residential construction and lighting design, Martin serves as on-site project manager for Patina Interior Design. As a licensed journeyman electrician, he offers invaluable insight into the studio’s luxury interior and lighting projects, ensuring that every detail — from illumination to installation — is executed with care, craftsmanship, and artistry.
Martin is also a dedicated member of Maui’s outrigger canoe paddling community, where his commitment to teamwork and water safety reflects the same values he brings to Patina’s design process: precision, collaboration, and respect for place. His knowledge of construction and connection to the island make him an essential part of Patina’s mission to create interiors that are as enduring as they are elegant.
Design Award
PATINA from Maui along with the team of Welch and Weeks and O’Sullivan Construction in Honolulu was awarded the 2019 BIA HAWAII New Residential Construction and Design Award for projects over nine hundred thousand dollars.
